

He studied chemistry at the Technical University of Darmstadt where he focused on physical chemistry and chemical technology.
For his Ph.D. he went to Cambridge (England) where he worked in the area of physical organic chemistry. He joined Kraus & Weisert in 1999, qualified as a patent attorney in 2003 and became a partner in 2005.
His specialty in the patent area are inventions in the field of pharmaceutical and polymer chemistry, liquid crystals, materials sciences, and chemical processes. He has extensive experience in the prosecution of European patent applications and frequently represents clients in oral proceedings before the European Patent Office.
Dr. Beckmann collects old prints and has a special interest in foreign languages. Other of his hobbies are computer programming and digital photography, the latter especially in combination with long-distance hiking, mountain biking skiing or snowshoeing in the Alps. His current ambition is to complete the Munich to Venice hiking trail.
