Horst Vissel studied physics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and, in addition, physical engineering at the Institut polytechnique de Grenoble. After graduating in Grenoble, he focused on the manufacture and characterization of strained silicon at the Jülich Research Centre and obtained a diploma in physics from the KIT.

Since 2011, he is qualified as a German patent attorney and European patent attorney. In parallel to handling patent, trade mark and design cases, he obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in European industrial property law.

His work at Kraus & Weisert focuses on prosecution and litigation of patents, particularly in semiconductor technology, optics, telecommunications and mechanical engineering. Moreover, he is handling trade mark cases.

Horst Vissel regularly publishes in renowned IP journals and is actively involved in the formation of future French and European patent attorneys.

Having participated in the construction of a prototype glider made of carbon fiber and epoxy himself, in his spare time, he now enjoys flying in similar gliders over the alps, the destination of his colleagues for hiking and skiing.
