Thomas received his license to practice as a patent attorney in 2017 after practical training as a patent attorney trainee, in particular with Kraus & Weisert and the German patent authorities, as well as theoretical studies with the University of Hagen.
He serves and consults clients in a variety of engineering domains, such as mobile communications, high-performance computing, integrated circuits, lighting supply, medical, motor vehicle transmissions, radial tires, furniture, etc.
His former professional activities involve business development with Xantaro Deutschland, research, project management, industrial standardization and interim team lead with Nokia Siemens Networks (formerly: Siemens Corporate Technology, today: Nokia), and research and teaching with the Chair of Communication Networks of the Technische Universität München.
He earned his Dr.-Ing. (Ph.D. equivalent) and Dipl.-Ing. (M.Sc. equivalent) degrees in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in 2007 and 1999, respectively. The Ph.D. thesis in fiber optic networking relates to transmission performance of fiber infrastructure, and the Diploma thesis devised in cooperation with Siemens Corporate Research (USA) addresses video object detection and tracking.
Thomas is fluent in German and English.
He enjoys spending off hours with mountaineering and DIY activities.
